Google Expands Beam Video-Calling to Six Countries
Google is expanding its Beam video-calling system to customers in six countries, including the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, and Japan. The rollout involves HP hardware and 18 channel partners.
Google announced on September 23 that it is expanding its Beam video-calling system to customers in six countries. The rollout covers the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Japan.
The expansion utilizes hardware from HP and support from 18 channel partners. Industrious, a workspace operator, will begin offering bookings in selected US locations from October.
Google has cited an eight-week internal study supporting the system's use in recruiting, talent development, and cross-team collaboration. The company also partnered with Bain & Company earlier this year to test Beam for campus recruiting and candidate interviews.
HP packages the product as HP Dimension with Google Beam, an enterprise 3D collaboration system. Industry analysis estimates the price at approximately US$25,000, positioning Beam in a market with established competitors like Cisco offering similar business video-conferencing systems.
