New information has surfaced regarding Google's upcoming Fitbit Edge smartband, detailing its anticipated European price and the inclusion of an AI-powered personal fitness coach. According to reports, the device will retail for approximately 179 euros, positioning it slightly above the Fitbit Charge 6. A key new feature highlighted is the integration of a Gemini-based personalized coaching system.
The Fitbit Edge is expected to feature a 1.34-inch AMOLED display with an always-on option. Battery life is projected at up to two days with the always-on display active, and up to seven days when it is turned off. A full charge is estimated to take two hours, with a five-minute quick charge offering 24 hours of use.
The smartband is slated to be released in four distinct color combinations, each featuring a different aluminum casing paired with a sport band: Obsidian & Matte Black, Olive & Satin Pyrite, Canyon & Champagne Gold, and Fog & Polished Silver. Health tracking capabilities will include heart rate, sleep, skin temperature, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2), and ECG monitoring. The device is also expected to offer atrial fibrillation detection, irregular rhythm notifications, and tracking for menstrual cycles and VO2 max.
The integrated AI coach aims to provide customized workout plans, answer user queries, and offer real-time guidance. The wearable supports over 40 exercise modes with automatic activity detection and elevation tracking. Some advanced functionalities may require a Google Health Premium subscription. The Fitbit Edge will run on Fitbit OS and support Bluetooth 5.4 and GPS, with compatibility for Android 11+ and iOS 16.4+ devices.
