Google has initiated the application process for its Africa Applied AI Lab, a program designed to offer technical assistance and early access to Google's artificial intelligence models for entrepreneurs and researchers across the continent.
The lab, situated at the Accra AI Community Centre (AICC) in Ghana, will support founders focused on leveraging AI research to address unique African challenges. The program aims to foster the development of AI-native startups within Africa.
This initiative is structured as a commercialization platform, bridging the gap between foundational research and market-ready products. It facilitates collaboration, pairing African founders and researchers directly with Google AI experts to jointly develop AI solutions.
The program will conclude with a demo day, where participating startups will present their projects to Google personnel, investors, and partners, creating opportunities for potential funding and further support. Applications are being accepted until August 31, with the program commencing in mid-September.
