Google Lowers AI Plus Subscription Price, Doubles Storage

Google has lowered the price of its entry-level Gemini AI Plus subscription to 5 euros per month, down from 8 euros. The company has also doubled the included cloud storage from 200 GB to 400 GB, aiming to increase accessibility to its AI models.

Announced by Vikas Kansal, Google's Product Manager for Gemini AI subscriptions, on X, the move seeks to attract more users by offering enhanced productivity tools and greater storage capacity at a reduced cost. The Plus subscription was initially introduced in January 2026 as a more affordable option for accessing Gemini Pro, Nano Banana Pro, and Deep Research models.

A new tier, AI Plus with 2 TB of storage, has also been added for approximately 10 euros per month. Higher tiers, such as AI Pro starting at 22 euros, bundle additional services like Google Health Premium and a YouTube Premium Lite subscription, catering to users more deeply integrated into Google's ecosystem.

Google also offers Ultra plans starting at 100 euros per month. This price reduction comes amid broader industry challenges where many users find free AI models sufficient, posing financial hurdles for companies. Google's strategy appears focused on converting a larger user base to paid subscriptions despite increased operational costs.
