Google renames NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook

Google is rebranding its AI-powered note-taking application, NotebookLM, to Gemini Notebook. The company announced the change on Thursday, with the update taking effect immediately.

While the application will remain a standalone product, it is expected to see deeper integration across Google's Gemini AI suite and its search engine moving forward. Google originally launched the service as Project Tailwind in May 2023 before a wider release later that year.

Over the past few years, Google has been actively developing new features for the app to enhance note organization and summarization. Recent additions include the ability to generate AI-powered podcasts, narrated slideshows, and short-form video clips based on user notes.

The rebranding aligns with Google's broader strategy to consolidate its artificial intelligence efforts under the Gemini brand, positioning it as a key competitor in the generative AI landscape.
