Google rolls out SynthID AI content detector globally
Google has launched its AI content detection tool, SynthID, for global use via a new website. The updated version now identifies watermarks from all partners, not just Google's own models.

Google has made its AI-generated content detection service, SynthID, available worldwide through a new dedicated website. The SynthID.com platform now allows users to check for invisible watermarks embedded in AI-created images, videos, and audio across various sources.
SynthID is designed to identify content produced by Google's Gemini models by encoding imperceptible signals into the media. Google states that Gemini alone has integrated SynthID with over 180 billion images and videos, and 240,000 years of audio.
Previously, verifying a SynthID watermark required interacting with the Gemini model itself, a process described as cumbersome and often lacking a clear yes/no answer. The new SynthID.com website removes this intermediary step, enabling direct and independent content analysis.
A key limitation of the earlier detection method was its inability to recognize SynthID watermarks generated by third-party AI models. The new global release addresses this by supporting watermarks from all of Google's partners, significantly broadening the tool's utility in verifying AI-generated content.
