Google tests integrated search functionality in Chrome browser menu
Google is testing a new search bar within the Chrome browser's main menu, aimed at improving user access to settings, bookmarks, and browsing history.
Google has introduced an experimental search bar to the Chrome browser's three-dot menu in the latest Canary build. The addition allows users to locate specific browser settings, saved bookmarks, and recent web history directly from the menu, reducing the need to navigate through multiple nested layers.
This update coincides with a wider redesign of the menu interface. The browser now features more prominent buttons for common actions such as opening new tabs or windows. Furthermore, Google is replacing the traditional scrolling arrows with a standard scroll bar, while keeping the search bar and footer options like 'Settings' and 'Help' fixed in place to maintain navigation consistency.
As the feature is currently in the testing phase, it remains subject to further adjustments. Google has not provided an official timeline for when these changes might migrate to the stable release channel.
