Google to Fix OLED Display Issue on Googlebook Laptops
Google has acknowledged a software issue causing some Googlebook laptops with OLED screens to display deep gray instead of pure black. A fix is promised soon.
Google has identified and pledged to soon release a solution for a software bug affecting some Googlebook laptops equipped with OLED displays. The issue causes the screens to render deep gray where pure black should be visible.
Users have reported that the problem occurs on models from manufacturers including Acer and Lenovo, all featuring OLED panels. Some users noted that the devices could correctly display black during startup or initial setup, but the issue emerged once the operating system loaded, suggesting a software rather than hardware fault.
Google community expert Mishaal Rahman confirmed that the company has pinpointed the root cause and is committed to deploying a fix promptly. This development comes as Google continues to refine the features of its Googlebook line.
Recent updates have introduced additional "Better Together" functionalities for Samsung phones and enabled HDR playback on select models. Google has not yet provided a specific timeline for the release of the upcoming software patch.
