Google to release Quick Share SDK for Android and iOS in 2027
Google plans to launch a developer tool in early 2027 that will enable seamless file transfers directly within third-party apps across Android and iOS platforms.
Google announced at the Android Developer Summit that it will release a Quick Share Software Development Kit (SDK) in the first half of 2027. The tool aims to simplify cross-platform file sharing by allowing developers to integrate transfer capabilities directly into their applications, bypassing the need for system-level menu switches.
The SDK requires approximately 20 lines of code to implement, enabling features such as in-app file previews and integrated transfer controls. The underlying technology relies on end-to-end encryption and Wi-Fi Direct to support high-speed, offline transfers of uncompressed media, addressing common connectivity issues in file sharing.
While the release provides the infrastructure for cross-platform sharing, actual user availability remains dependent on third-party developers adopting the SDK into their respective applications. Google confirms the kit will be available for both Android and iOS environments.
