Google to Restrict Free Access to Gemini AI Models
Starting October 9th, Google will limit free users of its Gemini AI service to the Flash Lite model. Paid subscription tiers will also see changes, including the removal of Gemini Pro from the standard AI Plus plan.

Google is set to alter the access levels for its Gemini artificial intelligence service, beginning October 9th. Under the new structure, users who access Gemini without a subscription will be limited to the Flash Lite model. Currently, free users have access to Gemini Flash Lite, Flash, and Pro.
The standard Gemini Flash model will require a Google AI Plus subscription, priced at $4.99 per month. Furthermore, the AI Plus subscription itself is undergoing a reduction in features, as it will no longer include access to the Gemini Pro model. Google has stated that AI Plus subscribers will receive email notifications detailing when this change will take effect.
Access to the more advanced Gemini Pro model, along with an advanced reasoning feature termed "Deep Think," will be reserved for users subscribing to Google AI Pro or Ultra plans. Specifics regarding the pricing and availability of these higher-tier plans have not yet been released.
These adjustments indicate a shift towards a more tiered access model for Google's AI offerings, directing users towards paid subscriptions for enhanced capabilities and reducing the scope of free access to its more powerful AI models.
