Google.org Commits $15 Mn To Boost Indian MSME Credit Access
Google.org has committed $15 million to The/Nudge to enhance credit access and digital enablement for Indian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Google's philanthropic arm, Google.org, has pledged $15 million to the nonprofit organization The/Nudge. The funding is intended to support the growth and digital advancement of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India.
The initiative focuses on developing scalable AI tools designed to help small businesses improve their access to formal credit, identify new market opportunities, and navigate regulatory compliance. An open call for proposals to find innovative solutions for MSME challenges is also part of the plan.
This funding arrives as efforts to leverage AI for enhanced productivity and wider digital service access among small businesses intensify. India's MSME sector continues to face significant hurdles in accessing formal finance and expanding market reach.
Estimates suggest AI adoption could unlock $490-685 billion in economic value for India's MSME sector. Digital lenders are increasingly focusing on these businesses, which often struggle to secure formal credit despite their crucial role in the economy.
