Google announced on Tuesday that its Gemini AI application has achieved 950 million monthly active users. CEO Sundar Pichai further stated during an earnings call that the number of daily active users for Gemini has tripled over the past year.

This user growth positions Google's AI service to narrow the gap with OpenAI's ChatGPT, which reportedly has approximately 1 billion monthly active users. The Gemini user base has seen consistent and rapid expansion in recent months.

In October of last year, Google reported around 650 million monthly active users. By the time of its Q4 2025 earnings report in February, this figure had already surpassed 750 million users.

Concurrent with user growth, Google continues to release new and improved AI models. Last week, the company launched three new models, including Gemini 3.6 Flash. Google claims these new models outperform previous generations in tasks like programming while reducing token consumption and lowering operational costs.

While Google's next-generation flagship model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, has not yet been released as planned, early development stages for Gemini 4 have commenced. The sustained user increase for Gemini indicates the ongoing success of Google's strategic investments in artificial intelligence.
