Action camera manufacturer GoPro has officially become a member of the Micro Four Thirds (M43) system alliance, according to Om Sharp Digital Technology. This move is expected to further promote the adoption of the M43 system in amateur, professional, and high-end film production.

GoPro released its first interchangeable-lens camera, the MISSION 1 PRO ILS, in August. This camera utilizes the M43 mount and features a 1-inch sensor. It supports 8K video recording at 60 frames per second and high-speed slow-motion at 1080p up to 960fps. The camera is equipped with a new GP3 processor for improved imaging and subject tracking capabilities.

The M43 system is a collaborative effort within the camera industry, involving companies like Panasonic and Olympus, aimed at developing and promoting common standards for interchangeable-lens digital cameras.
