GoPro, a pioneer in the action camera market, has reported a significant downturn in its second-quarter financial results. For the period spanning April to June 2026, the company's global revenue fell 31% compared to the same period last year, totaling $104.9 million. Shipments of cameras worldwide decreased by 38% to 291,000 units.

The company recorded a GAAP net loss of $51 million, or $0.30 per share, a stark contrast to the $16.4 million net loss reported in the prior year. This decline was primarily driven by a substantial drop in hardware revenue, which fell approximately 40%. In contrast, subscription and services revenue saw a 11% increase, reaching $29 million and now representing 28% of total revenue, up from 17% a year ago.

GoPro's cash position has become a focal point of concern. As of June 30, 2026, the company held $27.3 million in cash and cash equivalents, a decrease from $49.7 million at the end of 2025. The company also faces increasing short-term debt obligations, with $24.4 million due within the next 180 days under its 2021 credit agreement.

Amidst these financial challenges, GoPro announced that its board of directors approved an evaluation process for a potential sale of the company in May, which has now progressed to its "final stages." While details regarding potential buyers, pricing, or deal structure remain undisclosed, this development signals a strong possibility of a transaction being completed in the coming months.
