Gotion delivers Africa's largest energy storage project

Chinese company Gotion has commenced global deliveries for what is set to become Africa's largest AC-coupled energy storage project. The first 50 heavy-duty trucks, loaded with its self-developed Gotion Grid 5MWh storage systems, departed from its Jinzhai and Nantong facilities on September 28.

The project, located in Egypt, will consist of the Nefertiti and Horus projects, developed by AMEA Power and built by China Energy Engineering Group. Upon completion, it is expected to be Africa's largest standalone energy storage facility. The systems will bolster grid stability, support the integration of renewable energy sources like solar and wind, and contribute to Egypt's 2030 clean energy objectives.

Gotion's ability to complete the initial shipment within three months of signing highlights its capabilities in large-scale storage integration, global supply chain coordination, and localized delivery. The systems have been upgraded to withstand extreme conditions, including high heat, sandstorms, and salt fog, offering high voltage stability, safety, and millisecond-level response times. Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power, stated that this delivery initiates a new phase of broader cooperation, with the company actively exploring further opportunities in the Middle East and Africa with Gotion. Gotion views Egypt as a key entry point into the MENA region, demonstrating its capacity for end-to-end delivery and long-term commitment.
