GOTS Holds 25th Anniversary Congress and Press Conference in Munich

Munich will host the 25th annual congress of the Society for Orthopaedic-Traumatologic Sports Medicine (GOTS) from June 17 to 20, 2010. The congress, celebrating a quarter-century of the organization that unites sports medicine specialists from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, is expected to draw over 500 participants to Klinikum Großhadern.
A press conference is scheduled for Thursday, June 17, at 11:00 AM at the Hotel Arabella Sheraton München Westpark. Key topics will include the current state of scientific knowledge regarding the treatment of injuries in football players, with a presentation by Dr. Hubert Hörterer. GOTS President Prof. Holger Schmitt will review the society's 25-year history and outline future directions in sports medicine. The press conference will also announce the "Sports Doctor of the Year" for 2010.
The congress program will cover topics such as osteoarthritis and sports, the shoulder joint in sports, new imaging techniques, and reconstructive surgery. The agenda also includes sessions on Swiss national sports and practical workshops.
GOTS is the world's second-largest association of sports orthopedists and traumatologists, comprising over 900 leading experts from German-speaking countries. The organization aims to ensure high-quality care for sports injuries and sets professional standards in the field.
