The German Society for Orthopedic and Traumatologic Sports Medicine (GOTS) has released a program designed for shoulder injury prevention and warm-up exercises.

The program is based on the results of randomized controlled trials conducted by Andersson et al. in 2017 and Sakata et al. in 2019. GOTS emphasizes that these studies examined the effectiveness of the entire prevention program, rather than the impact of individual exercises.

According to current data, it is not possible to determine if specific individual exercises are effective, can be omitted, or substituted with others. While likely, the transferability of the program to other sports has not been assessed in the available literature.

The recommended regimen includes dynamic, mobilizing, or strengthening exercises to be performed in three sets of 8โ€“16 repetitions each. Stretching exercises should be conducted three times, holding the end stretch position for 20โ€“30 seconds.
