Government Approves 31 New Electronics Manufacturing Projects

India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has greenlit 31 new projects under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), representing a total investment of INR 6,844 crore (approximately $820 million USD). Additionally, a capacity expansion worth INR 1,033 crore ($124 million USD) was approved for existing beneficiary Wipro Global, bringing the total value of fresh clearances to INR 7,877 crore ($944 million USD).

The newly approved projects are projected to generate 9,588 jobs in the component manufacturing sector across 10 Indian states. Tamil Nadu secured the highest number of project approvals with seven, followed by Maharashtra and Haryana with six each, and Karnataka with five.

The pipeline of approved projects is expected to yield a total production value of INR 82,243 crore ($9.8 billion USD) in components. Among the beneficiaries are companies such as Kaynes Technology, Dixon Technologies, Wipro, and Tata Electronics.

The ECMS scheme, launched in April 2025, aims to bolster India's electronics component manufacturing ecosystem with a target of reaching $500 billion USD by FY32. The scheme offers a combination of turnover-linked and capital expenditure-linked incentives.
