GPT Image 2 Improves Creation of Comics and Storyboards

The release of OpenAI's GPT Image 2 model marks a significant advancement in digital content creation, particularly for comics and storyboards. CrePal, a company that has explored the model's capabilities, highlights that GPT Image 2 addresses a primary challenge: character drift. Previously, AI-generated characters could change appearance from one panel to the next, making it difficult to maintain visual consistency in sequential art.

The model's "thinking mode" enables the generation of up to eight coherent images from a single prompt. This feature ensures that character features, attire, and proportions remain consistent across all generated visuals. This capability is especially beneficial for storyboards, where maintaining a unified look for a character across different scenes is crucial.

GPT Image 2 also enhances text rendering, an area previously problematic for AI image generators. Speech bubbles and other text within AI-generated images are now depicted with clarity and readability. Furthermore, the model can generate a nine-panel storyboard as a single image, promoting compositional unity and a cohesive visual language across the entire grid.

The model is accessible through ChatGPT and OpenAI's API. The "thinking mode," reserved for paid subscribers, requires more processing time but guarantees character and object continuity. CrePal suggests establishing a "character anchor" โ€“ a reference image โ€“ before creating multi-panel sequences to ensure subsequent images align visually.
