Gradientech Receives Medtech4Health Grant for Rapid Diagnostics
Gradientech and EUCAST Reference Laboratory have received SEK 1.3 million from Medtech4Health for the verification of ultra-rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing.
Swedish medtech company Gradientech, in collaboration with the EUCAST Reference Laboratory, has been awarded SEK 1.3 million in grants from the Medtech4Health program. This funding will support the verification of Gradientech's diagnostic solution for ultra-rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing.
The grant is intended to facilitate the validation of Gradientech's QuickMIC® system. The system aims to significantly accelerate the diagnosis and treatment of bacterial infections, particularly sepsis, by providing results in hours rather than days.
Medtech4Health is an innovation program approved by the Swedish Innovation Agency (Vinnova), aimed at strengthening collaborations between academia, healthcare, and industry to foster improved healthcare solutions.
The verification process, undertaken with EUCAST Reference Laboratory, marks a significant step towards broader clinical integration. Faster and more accurate diagnostics can lead to improved patient outcomes and potentially mitigate the rise of antibiotic resistance by enabling clinicians to make more informed treatment decisions promptly.
