Gradientech receives notice of allowance for US patent application

Swedish biotechnology company Gradientech AB announced it has received a Notice of Allowance from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for patent application no. 14/903,032, titled "Use of a Fluidic Device". This notification signifies that Gradientech will be entitled to patent protection in the United States until at least 2034, once the patent is officially granted.

The patent application covers the company's proprietary method for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of a bacterial sample within a microfluidic environment. This technology is integral to Gradientech's QuickMIC™ diagnostic system, designed for ultra-rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST).

Gradientech has already secured patent protection for its MIC determination technology in Europe, Japan, and China. The company aims to significantly expedite the diagnosis of bacterial infections by providing a faster way to identify the most effective antibiotic treatments for patients.

The development is a key step in strengthening Gradientech's intellectual property portfolio for its QuickMIC™ platform, which is designed to improve patient care through faster and more accurate diagnostic results, particularly crucial in critical conditions like sepsis.
