Gradientech Secures Chinese Patent Office Allowance
Swedish medical technology company Gradientech has received a notice of allowance from the Chinese Patent Office for its QuickMIC™ diagnostic system technology.

Gradientech, a Swedish medical technology firm, has announced that its patent application for the QuickMIC™ diagnostic system has received a Notice of Allowance from the Chinese Patent Office. This signifies that the company is set to receive patent protection in China for the technology until 2034.
The patent covers the proprietary method for determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of a bacterial sample within a microfluidically controlled environment. This technology is a core component of Gradientech's QuickMIC™ system, designed for ultra-rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST).
This allowance follows previous grants of patent protection for MIC determination in Europe and Japan. The company's QuickMIC™ system aims to significantly reduce the time required for AST, a critical factor in timely and effective treatment of bacterial infections.
Rapid AST is crucial for identifying appropriate antibiotic treatments, particularly for severe conditions like sepsis, where delays can have significant consequences for patient outcomes. Gradientech's technology offers a pathway to accelerate this diagnostic process.
