Grainger's Fifth Annual Bucket Build Aids Disaster Recovery Preparedness
Grainger hosted its fifth annual "Bucket Build" event, assembling over 4,000 disaster relief kits. More than 500 volunteers participated in the assembly of aid supplies.
On September 23, 2026, Grainger conducted its fifth annual "Bucket Build" event aimed at supporting community disaster recovery efforts. Over 500 volunteers, including Grainger team members and students from YouthBuild programs, assembled more than 4,000 five-gallon buckets filled with essential cleaning supplies and hand tools.
The kits are designed to assist families with cleanup and repair efforts following natural disasters. They will be distributed by ToolBank USA to communities across North America impacted by natural disasters. Grainger has supported the event for four consecutive years and has expanded its partnership with YouthBuild to foster workforce development.
Melanie Tinto, Grainger's Chief Human Resources Officer, emphasized the importance of supporting communities and investing in people. "The Bucket Build is more than assembling supplies; it's about working together to help communities recover when disaster strikes, while creating pathways to meaningful work," Tinto stated.
The event also provided YouthBuild students with opportunities to learn about skilled trades and the supply chain industry, reinforcing Grainger's commitment to workforce development. Trey Bearden, CEO of ToolBank USA, noted that previously distributed buckets have aided 97 communities across the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico.
