Great Minds' Literacy Curriculum Receives Top Ratings

Great Minds PBC's Arts & Letters Curriculum Achieves High Recognition

Great Minds PBC's K-8 English language arts curriculum, Arts & Letters: Language Arts, has received top ratings from independent evaluators EdReports and The Reading League. EdReports, a non-profit organization that reviews educational materials using a model similar to Consumer Reports, awarded the curriculum its highest marks, referred to as "all greens."

The EdReports review highlighted the curriculum's high-quality texts, cohesive instructional routines, and comprehensive support systems for both students and teachers. The report specifically noted that the curriculum's clear, research-based design integrates reading, discussion, vocabulary, writing, inquiry, and assessment to foster close reading, evidence-based analysis, collaborative learning, and purposeful writing.

Arts & Letters is designed as a knowledge-building curriculum aligned with the Science of Reading principles. It utilizes whole books and diverse texts to engage and challenge students, exposing them to award-winning literature, poetry, biographies, historical narratives, literary nonfiction, visual art, and informational texts. This recognition makes Arts & Letters the fourth Great Minds program to receive an all-green rating from EdReports, joining Wit & Wisdom, Eureka Math, and Eureka Math².

The EdReports evaluation follows closely on the heels of a strong review from The Reading League, an organization that also evaluates curricula to help schools make informed purchasing decisions. The Reading League identified key strengths in Arts & Letters, including knowledge building through rich topics and texts, integrated literacy instruction across reading and writing, support for multilingual learners, coherent routines, and robust teacher resources.

"These independent reviews confirm what we're hearing from teachers and leaders. Arts & Letters helps students learn about the world around them and develop strong literacy skills and a love of reading," said Great Minds CEO John White. "I hope these evaluations create more opportunities for school communities to access these rich, engaging resources that support learning gains."

Great Minds PBC is a public benefit corporation that develops instructional materials written by teachers and content experts. Its portfolio includes Arts & Letters, Wit & Wisdom, Eureka Math², and Geodes books for developing readers.
