Great Wall Motor signs strategic cooperation agreement with Halla
Great Wall Motor has entered into a strategic partnership with South Korean supplier Halla to integrate advanced steering, suspension, and braking systems into its vehicle platforms.
Great Wall Motor (GWM) and Mando, a subsidiary of the South Korean conglomerate Halla Group, finalized a strategic cooperation agreement on June 25. The partnership focuses on the collaborative development and supply of steering, suspension, and braking systems for GWM vehicles.
This agreement formalizes an existing relationship, as the two companies have previously collaborated on component production for GWM models such as the H6 and M4. According to GWM Chairman Wei Jianjun, the partnership is integral to the company's shift toward platform-based development, which is intended to reduce product development lifecycles and narrow the quality gap between GWM vehicles and those from European and American competitors.
To support the partnership, Halla has established a dedicated project team within its China Research Institute to provide specialized engineering support. This collaboration represents a broader effort by GWM to standardize its production processes to enhance efficiency and global market competitiveness.
