Greenland Energy Company Completes Environmental Baseline Program in Jameson Land
Greenland Energy Company has concluded its government-approved environmental baseline program in Jameson Land, a step toward exploration drilling.
NUUK, Greenland – Greenland Energy Company announced on September 28, 2026, the successful completion of its 2026 environmental baseline field program in the Jameson Land Project area of East Greenland. This marks a significant advancement in the permitting process for potential exploration drilling.
The program received approval from Greenland's Ministry of Business and Mineral Resources, allowing activities through September 30. The approved fieldwork included collecting soil and freshwater samples, conducting vegetation and habitat studies, and recording wildlife and bird activity. These efforts focused on proposed well locations and a coastal landing site.
The 2026 surveys build upon extensive previous environmental work in Jameson Land, providing additional baseline data crucial for the ongoing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and permitting procedures. The fieldwork was managed by experienced environmental consultants, supported by Greenlandic geoscientists and local hunters employed as wildlife safety personnel.
