Grohe opens new distribution center in Porta Westfalica
Grohe has opened a new, modern distribution center in Porta Westfalica, Germany. The facility aims to increase capacity and improve logistical efficiency.

LIXIL’s brand Grohe has officially opened its new distribution center in Porta Westfalica, Germany. The facility, which commenced operations in early July 2022, spans approximately 29,500 square meters and is equipped with advanced warehousing technology to enhance the distribution of Grohe sanitary systems.
The new center is located adjacent to Grohe’s existing logistics facility, established in 1994, but is nearly four times its size. The former distribution center is slated for conversion into additional production space. "We are delighted about the addition of the new distribution centre to our Porta Westfalica site. Complementing production with top-notch logistics operations we are now optimally equipped for the future," stated Jonas Brennwald, Leader LIXIL EMENA.
The facility is specifically designed for Grohe products, featuring modern racking systems and conveyor technology, including a fully automated pallet transport system and sophisticated software. This upgrade is expected to enable greater flexibility in responding to customer demands, such as accommodating smaller batch sizes and facilitating short-notice shipments. The company has also focused on creating an optimized and modern work environment for its logistics specialists. The new facility is anticipated to create around 40 new full-time jobs.
The logistics center has achieved a gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The facility incorporates a 500 kWp photovoltaic system for power supply and utilizes a rainwater cistern. An ecological compensation area, including an orchard and flower meadows, has also been established on the premises.
The Porta Westfalica plant primarily manufactures Grohe Professional products, targeted at trade partners. The new distribution center is viewed as a strategic investment in this business segment, with expectations of continued strong growth. Anke Grotjohann, the mayor of Porta Westfalica, highlighted the significance of LIXIL’s expansion for the region's economy and innovative business landscape. The distribution center became fully operational shortly after its inauguration.
