Traditional observability platforms, often designed with pricing models based on data volume, struggle to accommodate the sheer amount of data generated by AI systems. groundcover states this frustrates customers who are forced to sample or limit data collection due to cost concerns.
groundcover differentiates itself with a "bring-your-own-cloud" (BYOC) architecture. In this model, customers keep the data plane, including telemetry storage and processing, within their own cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), while groundcover manages the control plane and user experience. A fully self-hosted option is also available.
This architectural choice influences the company's strategy and pricing. Instead of charging based on telemetry ingestion volume, groundcover primarily bases its pricing on the number of monitored hosts.
