Group 1 Automotive Continues Brand Alignment in Amarillo

Group 1 Automotive, a Houston-based automotive retailer, has continued its nationwide initiative to unify its dealership network. The former Gene Messer Ford Amarillo has officially adopted the name Group 1 Ford of Amarillo, effective April 1, 2026. This change is part of a broader effort to ensure a consistent customer experience across Group 1's network of U.S. dealerships.

The rebranding does not signify a change in ownership, staffing, or day-to-day operations. Group 1 Automotive has owned and operated the Amarillo facility for over two decades, and the name change aims to connect the local dealership more clearly to the company's national platform and resources.

"Since taking our new name, our customers have found the same local team they know and trust, now with a clearer connection to the strength and resources of Group 1," said Shane Qualls, General Manager of Group 1 Ford of Amarillo. "The name on the building changed, but what matters here has not: a consistent, convenient, and transparent experience."

Group 1 Ford of Amarillo continues to operate from its location at 3400 Soncy Road, serving customers in Amarillo, Canyon, and the surrounding Texas Panhandle communities. The dealership offers new and used Ford vehicles, as well as parts and service, aiming to provide the same local relationships with the added benefit of Group 1's recognized brand.
