Group 1 GMC Rivertown Passes One Year Under Parent Company's Brand
The Columbus car dealership, formerly Rivertown Buick GMC, has operated as Group 1 GMC Rivertown since April 2025. The same local team remains in place.
COLUMBUS, Ga. – More than a year after the Columbus car dealership formerly known as Rivertown Buick GMC began operating as Group 1 GMC Rivertown, the business continues under the Group 1 name. The change, effective April 15, 2025, was part of a broader initiative by Group 1 Automotive, Inc. to unify its dealership network under a single brand.
The dealership has served the Chattahoochee Valley for decades. Its first year under the Group 1 banner has maintained the local GMC team and customer relationships while connecting the store to the parent company's scale and standards. Group 1 Automotive has owned and operated the Columbus location for over a decade.
Group 1 GMC Rivertown continues to operate from its long-standing location at 1661 Whittlesey Road in Columbus. It serves new GMC vehicles, pre-owned inventory, and certified service, parts, and maintenance to customers in Columbus, Phenix City, Opelika, and surrounding Georgia and Alabama communities. Customers have worked with the same professionals throughout.
