Growth Fund Germany Invests Four Fifths of Capital

The Growth Fund Germany has committed approximately EUR 825 million of its EUR 1 billion capital to 41 venture capital funds. This investment has, in turn, supported over 360 technology companies since the fund's establishment two years ago.

The fund's portfolio is diversified across sectors, with 39% allocated to information and communication technology (ICT), 35% to life sciences, and 26% to other innovative fields such as deep tech, industrial tech, and climate tech. Investment stages include 54% in growth funds, 35% in early-stage funds, and 11% in generalist funds.

Dr. Jörg Goschin, CEO of KfW Capital, stated that the fund's innovative structure has facilitated a strong interplay between public and private capital. He highlighted the success in attracting new private investors to the venture capital asset class. The fund focuses on supporting technology companies during their growth phase.

Internationally, the Growth Fund Germany's structure has garnered attention, with several countries exploring similar initiatives. KfW Capital is preparing a follow-up fund, Growth Fund Germany II, with fundraising expected to commence in 2026.
