GSK Expands Precision Medicine Collaboration with Tempus

GSK plc has expanded its collaboration with Tempus, a U.S.-based precision medicine company, through a new three-year agreement. This partnership provides GSK with enhanced access to Tempus' artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) platform, including its extensive library of de-identified patient data.

The collaboration is set to accelerate GSK's research and development (R&D) efforts, particularly in oncology. By leveraging Tempus' data, GSK aims to improve clinical trial design, speed up patient enrollment, and identify novel drug targets, ultimately aiming to increase R&D success rates and deliver personalized treatments to patients faster.

This expanded agreement builds upon the existing relationship between the two companies, which began in 2020 focusing on clinical trial enrollment for specific cancer types. The new deal significantly scales up GSK's access to detailed patient data, drawing from Tempus' work with a substantial portion of U.S. oncologists.

Tony Wood, Chief Scientific Officer at GSK, stated that the collaboration will provide unique insights for discovering better medicines. Eric Lefkofsky, Founder and CEO of Tempus, highlighted the shared commitment to providing patients with more personalized therapeutic options. The agreement includes a minimum financial commitment over three years, with GSK making an initial payment of $70 million and holding an option for a two-year extension.
