GSK plc Appoints Immunology Expert to Board

London, UK – GSK plc announced on February 21, 2025, that Dr. Gavin Screaton will join the company's Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director starting May 1, 2025. Dr. Screaton's appointment fills a vacancy created by Dr. Jesse Goodman, who will retire from the Board after the company's Annual General Meeting in May 2025, following nine years of service.
Dr. Screaton currently serves as Head of the Medical Sciences Division at the University of Oxford, with a focus on immunology and infectious diseases. These scientific areas are critical to GSK's research and development strategy. He is recognized for his expertise in both academic research and its application.
His background includes roles as a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and the Royal College of Physicians, and a former Senior Investigator at the UK's National Institute for Health Research. Dr. Screaton also holds a Non-Executive Director position at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and is a Trustee of the Jenner Vaccine Foundation. He co-founded RQ Bio, a biotechnology firm developing preventative medicines for infectious viral diseases.
Upon joining the GSK Board, Dr. Screaton will become a member of the company's Science Committee and the Corporate Responsibility Committee. Sir Jonathan Symonds, Chair of GSK, stated that Dr. Screaton's extensive experience in immunology and infectious diseases will provide valuable perspective to the Board's deliberations. He also expressed gratitude for Dr. Goodman's significant contributions during his tenure.
