GSK Presents Respiratory Data From Pipeline to Clinical Practice at ERS Conference
GSK plc announced it will present data from its respiratory pipeline and current treatments at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress in Milan, Italy, from September 9-13, 2017.

GSK plc is set to present 45 abstracts detailing new scientific understanding and clinical data for respiratory diseases at the European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress in Milan, Italy, from September 9-13, 2017. The presentations will cover research spanning from early pipeline discoveries to data on current patient management.
The company highlighted the significant global burden of respiratory conditions, noting that asthma and COPD together affect nearly 700 million people worldwide. COPD is the third leading cause of death globally, with its prevalence increasing substantially since 1990. Despite advancements, more than half of asthma patients experience poor symptom control, and severe asthma affects an estimated 5-10% of individuals, often requiring multiple medications.
Among the key presentations will be efficacy and safety data from two Phase III studies (METREX and METREO) of mepolizumab, an investigational add-on treatment for eosinophilic COPD patients at high risk of exacerbations. The Salford Lung Study, which evaluated Relvar Ellipta (fluticasone furoate/vilanterol) in everyday clinical practice among 4,233 asthma patients, will also be featured.
Further data to be shared includes results from an investigational once-daily closed-triple combination therapy (fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol) for COPD, analyses of quality of life and productivity in severe asthma patients treated with mepolizumab, and presentations on two novel investigational treatments, danirixin and nemiralisib, targeting disease modification in COPD.
These presentations underscore GSK's commitment to advancing the understanding and treatment of respiratory diseases, aiming to improve patient outcomes and reduce the impact of these conditions.
