GSK plc published its 2013 Corporate Responsibility Report, outlining the company's progress in health initiatives and responsible business practices.

A significant focus of the report was the malaria vaccine candidate, RTS,S. Over 18 months of follow-up, the vaccine demonstrated a near halving of malaria cases in young children and a reduction of approximately one-quarter in infants, marking a crucial step in combating the disease in Africa.

GSK also highlighted a new partnership with Save the Children aimed at saving one million children's lives over five years. Furthermore, the company announced the donation of its four billionth albendazole tablet to combat neglected tropical diseases.

The report detailed GSK's evolving approach to sales and marketing, stating plans to better align commercial activities with patient interests. A new performance management system was launched to link employee rewards with company values. Additionally, GSK began rolling out preventive healthcare benefits globally for employees and their families, with full implementation planned by 2018.

Regarding environmental performance, the report noted a slight increase in carbon emissions, though still 7% below the 2010 benchmark. Water usage decreased by 2% in 2013. GSK received recognition for its water use reductions and achieved a bronze ranking in RobecoSAM's Sustainability Yearbook.
