GTA 6 Sets Pre-Order Record, Sales of Tens of Millions Expected
Research firm Newzoo reports Grand Theft Auto 6 has achieved the strongest pre-order launch in history. The game is projected to sell tens of millions of units in its first week.

Gaming research firm Newzoo has analyzed the pre-order performance of Grand Theft Auto 6, determining it has set a record for the strongest pre-order launch in recorded history. Data indicates that digital pre-order spending in the US and five major European markets reached approximately $180 million in the final week of June alone.
Considering the global distribution of Grand Theft Auto 5 players, Newzoo estimates the worldwide spending in the first week of Grand Theft Auto 6's pre-order availability to be around $260 million. This figure solidifies its position as the most robust pre-order launch based on available data.
Based on this initial week of pre-order sales, Newzoo has projected first-week sales upon the game's official release in November. The initial pre-order revenue accounts for approximately 5.8% of the projected total sales for the launch week. This leads to an estimate that Grand Theft Auto 6 could achieve sales of approximately $4.5 billion, corresponding to 51 million units sold, within its first week.
However, acknowledging the unprecedented market anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6, Newzoo also presents a more conservative estimate. Even if pre-order demand is heavily front-loaded, the game is still expected to generate around $3.3 billion in sales, with approximately 37 million units sold, during its initial launch week.
