GTA: Vice City and GTA 3 Playable in Web Browsers
The legendary games Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto 3 are once again playable directly through a web browser. The new versions support frame rates exceeding 100 FPS and function across multiple devices.

The iconic titles Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto 3, long-revered in gaming history, are now accessible for direct play within web browsers. This technological feat allows players to revisit these classics without the need for traditional installations.
The browser versions are powered by community-driven projects that enable the games' original code to run in a web environment. Specifically, the Grand Theft Auto: Vice City adaptation utilizes the reVC project, which decompiled the game's source code into a more readable C++ format. This enables execution via WebAssembly, with graphics rendered using the WebGL 2 API.
These browser adaptations support a range of input methods, including keyboard, mouse, gamepads, and touch controls for mobile devices. Testing indicates rapid loading times and smooth gameplay. The Vice City version also features save file and MOD management, and its frame rate can exceed 100 FPS, surpassing the original game's design limits.
Similarly, the Grand Theft Auto 3 version, based on the re3 project, offers comparable functionality, excluding MOD management. Both games have demonstrated stable performance across various devices. While a previous browser iteration was removed due to copyright claims, these new implementations have resurfaced. Users are required to provide their own game asset files, and the platform includes disclaimers regarding potential copyright infringements.
