GTA6 Receives Z Rating in Japan, Content Cuts Unconfirmed

Grand Theft Auto VI has been rated Z in Japan by CERO, restricting it to players aged 18 and over. Details regarding potential content alterations for the Japanese market remain unconfirmed.

18 October 2026

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA6) has officially received a 'Z' rating from Japan's Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO), designating it for mature players aged 18 and above. The rating is now visible on the Japanese PlayStation and Microsoft digital storefronts.

The game is classified as containing violence and crime, consistent with previous titles in the Grand Theft Auto series. It has also secured an 'M' rating from ESRB in North America and a PEGI 18 rating in Europe, citing reasons such as bloody violence, intense violence, nudity, strong sexual content, and drug/alcohol use.

Japanese gaming publication Game*Spark has raised concerns about potential content modifications in the Japanese release, as Rockstar Games has yet to confirm if the version for Japan will differ from international versions. This follows precedent, as GTA5 also received a CERO Z rating in Japan but had certain violent and sexual scenes edited out.
