Guerbet expands microcatheter and guidewire offerings for medical imaging
Medical imaging company Guerbet is doubling its microcatheter line and launching new guidewires for interventional imaging and embolization procedures.
Villepinte, France – Guerbet, a global leader in medical imaging, has announced a significant expansion of its microcatheter and guidewire portfolio. The company is more than doubling its existing range of SeQure® and DraKon™ microcatheters, which previously numbered 18 references, by adding 20 new versions. Additionally, Guerbet is launching a new line of Axessio™ guidewires.
The expansion aims to enhance Guerbet's offerings for interventional imaging and embolization procedures. The SeQure® technology is designed to provide optimized navigation capabilities, facilitating access to difficult anatomies and enabling deeper reach. SeQure® is also noted as the only microcatheter featuring reflux control and a fluid barrier technology for flow-directed embolization. The new models are intended for more targeted treatment delivery and compatibility with a wider range of embolic materials.
These products, which received CE marking in April 2019 and FDA clearance in 2018, underwent a limited market evaluation in the United States during the fourth quarter of 2021. Guerbet plans a commercial launch in select markets during the second quarter of 2022. The company is hosting a digital launch event on March 12, 2022, to introduce the product line extension.
This year marks Guerbet's 40th anniversary in interventional radiology. The company emphasizes that this portfolio development is part of its ongoing commitment to growth and innovation aimed at improving patient care and supporting interventional radiologists.
