Guerbet takes full control of AI projects after Merative agreement
Guerbet has terminated its collaboration with Merative, regaining full rights to develop and market its artificial intelligence solutions for medical imaging.

Guerbet, a global leader in medical imaging, announced an agreement with Merative to formally end their collaboration initiated in July 2018. The partnership was aimed at designing, developing, and marketing software solutions to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of liver and prostate cancers.
The termination follows Merative's strategic shift in its approach to delivering artificial intelligence within its imaging product portfolio. Under a new Asset Assignment and License Agreement, Guerbet has secured the autonomy to proceed with research and development and plan for the market launch of its Artificial Intelligence solutions. All assets developed during the partnership, including source code, AI algorithms, and associated intellectual property, are now transferred to Guerbet.
Market potential for these solutions is reported as unchanged and significant, with Guerbet now holding full control over remaining development work. Promising initial results were achieved in 2022 for detecting liver lesions and prostate cancer, with findings presented at major industry conferences. The company also recently received €1 million in funding for a project focused on the early detection of pancreatic cancer.
Guerbet is reportedly in constructive discussions with multiple stakeholders to establish new partnerships. These collaborations aim to accelerate the company's product roadmap and foster the emergence of a national leader in artificial intelligence for medical imaging.
