Gurunavi to Showcase Ancient Magewappa Craftsmanship in Paris

Gurunavi is set to showcase the ancient Magewappa woodcraft tradition at the Maison & Objet Paris 2026 event in Paris, France. The exhibition will feature more than 40 Japanese wooden products designed to support decarbonization efforts and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria.
The Magewappa technique is a Japanese craftsmanship tradition that is over a millennium old, renowned particularly for its creation of wooden bento boxes. Representing this heritage at the event will be Yoshimasa Shibata, one of only 16 recognized traditional artisans in Japan dedicated to preserving and advancing this skill.
The products on display emphasize sustainability and environmental consciousness. The manufacturing process utilizes locally sourced materials and traditional methods engineered to minimize ecological impact. Through this exhibition, Gurunavi aims to enhance global awareness of Japanese craftsmanship and highlight its relevance in contemporary consumer markets.
