Hangzhou Xindongtian Outlines Selection Criteria for Rugged Tablet Display Brightness
Hangzhou Xindongtian Intelligent Technology has published a technical guide to help operators determine appropriate display brightness for rugged devices based on environmental needs.

Hangzhou Xindongtian Intelligent Technology has released a guide addressing the complexities of display brightness for rugged tablets. The company argues that while 'nits' (cd/m²) are a common metric, they do not solely determine sunlight readability, which depends on a combination of optical bonding, reflection control, and screen architecture.
According to the report, brightness requirements vary significantly based on deployment. Indoor tasks typically require 300–500 nits, while operations in direct sunlight necessitate 1000 nits or higher. The company suggests that purchasers should conduct environmental testing rather than relying on peak brightness figures provided in product sheets.
The guide also cautions that maximizing brightness affects thermal performance and battery life. For professional deployments, operators must balance the need for high luminance against the power consumption constraints of mobile hardware to ensure reliable operation throughout an entire work shift.
