Hanshow Unveils Nebular Lux Electronic Shelf Labels

Hanshow has launched its new generation of Nebular Lux electronic shelf labels (ESL) at NRF 2026 Europe in Paris. These devices are powered by both ambient store light and a battery, enhancing responsiveness in shelf operations while reducing the environmental impact associated with battery usage and replacement.

The new technology is reported to decrease daily energy consumption by up to 46 percent compared to traditional ESL devices. For an installation of one million labels, this equates to approximately 202 tons of CO2 emissions avoided over ten years. The reduced need for battery replacement lowers production costs and environmental impact.

With the widespread deployment of ESL devices, shelf operations have become increasingly critical for retailers. Businesses need to meet demands for faster response times while ensuring the equipment's longevity. Nebular Lux aims to balance responsiveness, durability, and sustainability.

The hardware combines ambient light harvesting, ultra-low power electronic components, and Hanshow's fifth-generation HiLPC communication protocol. This hybrid solution optimizes energy management, communication, and positioning, meeting the requirements for large-scale retail deployments.

Philippe Brochard, Chairman of Hanshow's Advisory Committee, stated that digital in-store solutions must be responsive and energy-efficient, not just connected. Nebular Lux helps retailers transform data into concrete actions more quickly and supports the broader deployment of a sustainable "Store Digital Twin."
