Hanshow Unveils Nebular Lux Energy-Efficient Shelf Label at NRF 2026 Europe

PARIS, September 29, 2026 – Hanshow introduced its new generation electronic shelf label (ESL), Nebular Lux, at the NRF 2026: Retail's Big Show Europe event. The ESL employs a hybrid energy architecture that leverages ambient indoor light to complement battery power. This approach aims to enhance operational responsiveness while reducing the carbon footprint associated with battery use in retail environments.

According to Hanshow, Nebular Lux can decrease daily energy consumption by approximately 46% in typical retail operating scenarios compared to conventional ESL implementations. For an installation of one million labels, this could prevent the emission of around 202 metric tons of CO₂ linked to battery manufacturing and replacement over a 10-year period.

The company highlights the growing importance of shelf-edge operations in daily retail. Retailers need to offer more frequent and agile services at the shelf edge without compromising the long operational lifespan required for large-scale deployments. Balancing responsiveness, durability, and energy efficiency is therefore becoming crucial for digital shelf infrastructure.

Nebular Lux is designed to address these challenges with a hybrid energy structure that integrates ambient light harvesting, ultra-low power electronics, and Hanshow's fifth-generation HiLPC communication protocol. This design allows for increased positioning frequency and longer-lasting LED signaling, supporting high-frequency use cases such as order picking, restocking, and location-based services.

Hanshow is showcasing Nebular Lux and its broader Store Digital Twin solutions at booth E-020 in Hall 6 during NRF 2026: Retail's Big Show Europe. The company also presented its NexMate robotics solution at the event.
