Hansi Hinterseer and Ramona: Secrets of 40 Years of Marriage

Folk music star Hansi Hinterseer and his wife Ramona are set to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary in 2026. Hinterseer, 72, has offered insights into their enduring marriage, highlighting respect, freedom, and shared time as its cornerstones.

The couple has two daughters, and Hinterseer is now also a grandfather. He resides in his native Kitzbühel, Tyrol, Austria, a region with which he shares a profound connection. This bond with nature and his homeland is also reflected in his professional endeavors. He actively supports conservation efforts, such as Austria's "vielfaltleben" species protection project, and serves as a patron for the endangered Kentish plover.

Hinterseer's music, particularly his 2025 album "Bärig – Mit Herz und Gfühl," celebrates his love for nature and the mountains. The album features sixteen new songs in the traditional Tyrolean dialect, recorded in his homeland and accompanied by traditional instruments. The aim is to convey feelings of connection to nature and joy to his audience.

Hinterseer and Ramona first met in 1984 at the opening of a fitness studio in Gstaad. Hinterseer described the initial encounter as "Bingo," being instantly captivated by Ramona's eyes. Ramona felt an immediate attraction to Hinterseer, whom she recognized as a skier from television. Their early courtship included correspondence, with Hinterseer sending letters filled with hearts from the United States.

According to Hinterseer, the secret to their successful marriage lies in mutual respect, allowing each other freedom, and cherishing their time together. With their daughters now grown and living independently, the couple is enjoying more shared moments.
