HarmonyOS Tencent Video Introduces On-Device A2A AI Capabilities
Tencent Video's HarmonyOS version has launched App-to-Agent (A2A) capabilities, allowing system-level AI to be directly accessed within the video streaming application.
IT Home reports that Tencent Video's version for HarmonyOS has debuted new App-to-Agent (A2A) capabilities, integrating system-level AI directly into the user's daily video streaming experience. This feature allows the AI assistant, "Xiao Yi" (Little Friend), to interact with Tencent Video's internal AI to provide tailored content recommendations and information without requiring users to exit the app.
When a user is watching content, they can summon Xiao Yi. Leveraging its foreground awareness, Xiao Yi can automatically surface suggestions like "currently popular TV dramas," "recommended new films," or "variety shows." These recommendations appear as "Tencent Video AI Assistant" cards. Tapping a card directly launches the suggested content within the Tencent Video app.
The A2A functionality is enabled by the "openJiuwen A2A" framework, which standardizes the interaction between Xiao Yi and in-app agents. This transforms Xiao Yi from an interface integrator to a central hub for discovering, routing, and orchestrating tasks across different applications. Apps can join the HarmonyOS AI ecosystem by adhering to a set of standard interfaces.
Key benefits of this A2A integration include faster response times and enhanced privacy, as data processing can occur more locally on the device, reducing reliance on cloud services. The user experience remains consistent, and developers can reuse existing UI elements. This open approach also allows application agents to evolve independently, lowering integration barriers and speeding up development cycles for the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
