HARTING Introduces Han® HC DCT Connectors for Enhanced High Current Transmission

HARTING Technologiegruppe has introduced its new Han® HC DCT (DoubleContact Technology) connector series, designed to enhance high current transmission for demanding applications such as rolling stock and outdoor installations. The new series builds upon HARTING's established HC-Modular solutions for 250, 350, and 650 A.

The key innovation lies in the double contact technology, where current flows through both an internal pin and an encompassing lamella that grips the mating pin. This configuration increases the contact surface area and reduces transition resistance, enabling up to 20% higher current carrying capacity compared to previous standards. The improved design also facilitates better thermal management, contributing to increased reliability.

Safety has been enhanced with touch protection now provided on both the male and female sides of the connector, whereas previously only the female side offered this feature. Installation is simplified through rotatable contacts that securely snap into the insulator and can be freely turned within it. This feature effectively compensates for mechanical strain on the cable, significantly easing the assembly process.

Maik Iphöfer, Product Manager at HARTING, highlighted potential weight and space savings. "Due to the new performance classes, we offer a wider variance in current ratings, allowing customers to select a contact precisely suited for their application instead of over-specifying," he stated.
