HARTING introduces new smaller connector size for transport technology
HARTING's new Han® 4 HPR connector combines proven robustness for railway applications with a current carrying capacity of up to 70 A, while significantly reducing size and weight.
German company HARTING Technologiegruppe has introduced the new Han® 4 HPR connector, specifically designed for railway and other transport technology applications. The new connector offers the same current carrying capacity of up to 70 A as the larger Han® 6 HPR models but requires significantly less installation space and weighs less.
Structurally, the Han® 4 HPR is designed to withstand demanding conditions, similar to previous HPR series products (High Pressure Railway). The new size reduces the mounting footprint by up to 55% compared to the Han® 6 HPR model. The weight has also been significantly reduced, to less than half of the previous, partly due to the use of a plastic mounting frame instead of metal.
The development of the new connector addresses the increasing need in mechanical engineering and transport technology for higher power density, meaning more power in a smaller space. According to HARTING, the connector meets high standards for robustness and protection class (IP68/IP69) as well as industry standards IEC 45545 and UL1977.
The Han® 4 HPR will also be available in other HARTING industrial connector families, such as Han® B and Han-Eco®. The component aims to meet the market's growing demand for compact and efficient connection solutions.
