Haryana Police Establishes AI Task Force for Cybercrime and Financial Investigations

Haryana Police has announced the formation of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force aimed at expanding the use of AI in law enforcement operations. The task force will focus on critical areas including cybercrime investigations, analysis of financial transactions, processing citizen grievances, and managing court-related information.

A key initiative under the task force is the development of an AI-assisted Financial Trail Analysis system. This system is designed to process vast amounts of financial transaction data to identify connections between suspicious accounts and assist investigators in tracing the flow of illicit funds. Police officials have clarified that AI will serve as a supporting tool, with human investigators retaining final decision-making authority.

Beyond financial crime, the task force will explore AI applications for enhancing cybercrime investigations, improving the efficiency of complaint processing, and streamlining the management of court documentation. Potential applications also extend to data analytics, document processing, and identifying crime patterns. This initiative builds upon previous uses of technology by Haryana Police, including AI for identifying fraudulent SIM card connections.
