Haver & Boecker closes plastic packaging recycling loop

Haver & Boecker OHG has demonstrated that the recycling loop for plastic packaging can be effectively closed.

The company has successfully collected 15 tons of plastic waste generated from PE sacks filled using its ADAMS® technology. This waste material was subsequently processed by Berry Global for the manufacturing of new plastic sacks. This initiative highlights the value of plastic packaging, particularly those made from a single material, as recyclable raw materials.

The ADAMS® technology is designed to pack powdered products into plastic sacks that effectively protect the contents. As the sacks are made from a single material (monomaterial), they are easily recyclable without the need for separating different materials. Additionally, the sacks can be nearly completely emptied, which promotes their recyclability.

The collection project's objective was to demonstratively show that plastic sacks can be collected efficiently and transformed into new products. Through this, Haver & Boecker aimed to raise awareness of plastic's value as a raw material and its utilization in a circular economy. The company strives to minimize material waste, as each saved package significantly reduces the product's carbon footprint.
